Winner of a diverse array of Awards including 2009's Best Dramatic Commercial in his native Switzerland, 2008's Best Dramatic Webisode for THE GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE and an earlier prize for the YOUNG SPIELBERG AWARD in that country's Fast Video competition, Producer and Director CLAUDIO FAEH has just wrapped principal photography on his latest film SNIPER: RELOADED, which filmed in and around Johannesburg, South Africa.
Produced for Film Afrika and Germany's Apollo Media, the film will be released by Screen Gems in June 2010. With Billy Zane reprising his role as the Spotter, Richard Sammel (from 'Inglourious Basterds'), up and coming British actress Annabel Wright and introducing Chad Michael Collins as the son of the original 'Sniper', Tom Berenger, 'Sniper: Reloaded' is a taut return to the set-up created in the Luis Lhosa original.
A talented and articulate artist fully capable of realising both the dramatic strengths, visceral action and the extraordinary tensions present in the "Reloaded" script, Claudio has an excellent grasp of the complexities of staging action and special effects sequences. Several fine roles invigorate the 'Sniper: Reloaded' screenplay by John Fasano, and the director has paid meticulous attention in bringing the actors' performances to the screen.
Although primarily a director, he has also handled the extreme demands of both the 3D FX duties as a Producer on legendary horror and suspense director Joe Dante's recent THE HOLE:3D opening in September 2010, and prior to that, acted as Executive Producer on STARSHIP TROOPERS: MARAUDER dealing with the effects on that film. Written and directed by Ed Neumeier, writer/creator of 'Robocop' (with writing partner Michael Miner) and writer of the first 'Starship Troopers'. Marauder' is based on the Robert Heinlein sci-fi classic which starred Casper Van Diem and other Starship Trooper veterans, and is another of Paul Verhoeven's exotic sci-fi action films returning to life with a major assist from Claudio. Verhoeven shared Executive Producer credit on the Faeh directed HOLLOW MAN 2. That film was produced by Doug Wick and Red Wagon Entertainment in Vancouver, starred Christian Slater as The Hollow Man, with 'Twilight' star Peter Facinelli as the young detective and Laura Regan his leading lady and was Claudio's first directorial assignment for Sony Pictures/Screen Gems.
Claudio's first feature film CORONADO is a tour-de-force of humorous action and well-rendered special effects. Produced by Oscar winners Volker Engel and Marc Weigert, the film was successfully released in 22 countries around the world.
Claudio directed seven short films in Switzerland and the United States before making 'Coronado'. He received numerous awards for these films at various international film festivals, including the Prix des Industries Techniques at Festival du Film du Geneve, Gold and Silver Medals at UNICA Worldwide Festival, a Gold Medal at JVC Tokyo Film Festival. He is a three-time winner of the Finalist Award at Worldfest Houston and winner of the Filmfluss Award, Zurich.
After Claudio completed his studies in English Literature with a thesis on the writer Frans Kafka at the University of Zurich, he continued his postgraduate education in Film and Television at UCLA. He is married with a young daughter, and he and his wife Martina, a doctor, divide their time between Los Angeles and Zurich. Claudio is represented by Jon Huddle of UTA and The Derek Power Company.
